Questions and answers:

  • On demand the 3D model of the Half Moon platform is now available. The presented technical solution does not guarantee the compliance with the specifications. Likewise, the real representation of the interface with the telescope mount is not guaranteed. This interface has to be verified in situ during the detailed design phase.
  • The installed mass of the 3D-model of the preliminary design is 4400 kg and not 3900 kg as indicated in document RPT/TELE/0394-R why the value of 4000 kg for the maximum installed mass as per specification ESP/TELE/0202-R, tends to be too optimistic and can be exceeded. The requirement of the maximum installed mass is not completely determining but important due to the possible direct influence over the requirement for the dynamic behavior 5.3.6.
  • Some images of the interface areas between the telescope mount and the Half Moon platform are available now. Furthermore you are encouraged to enter the panoramic views, above all "Level 1 Pos. 1" and "Level 0", which are available under the following link: The different views you can choose in the pull-down menu on the upper right corner of the window.
